Where my Heart Belongs

 In my tiny life I have tasted of fear.

And as of late, I know what it is to be angry.

I have fought back many a tear.

And I have smelled the wildflowers in bloom.

It is true, I have been an icy storm.

And who can count the lost lives?

I am locked away in a dorm.

I assume I own a glass heart.

Which leads me to question, is it glass?

But mostly I wonder, is it missing entirely?

Of course I  speculate, does it grow like wild grass?

I know not where my heart belongs.

In my infinite past I have lived a life of fears.

Indeed, I have born the flames of hatred.

And looking back, I have shed many tears.

And now I ask, but where will I be tomorrow?

It seems over the years I have changed.

Perhaps my changes are for the better;

Views and opinions have been exchanged.

But, have I really changed in good ways?

With whom can my secrets be entrusted?

It seems I am closed off to humanity;

My dreams evade my grasp and end up busted.

Leaving me to question my intentions.

Must I ask of you, who can save them?

Which leads me to ponder, did even I ever hold them?

Perhaps they will come to me at the end of this stem.

And if they should run, I shall chase them.

But of course they will run to the place my heart belongs.

I must ask myself daily, where exactly is that?

It surely must reside in the heart of all these songs.

And daily I come to this same conclusion.

Of course, all these songs share the same chorus;

And their melodies taste of a place I call home.

In this place they are all waiting for us.

And in this place I have Locked away my heart.

Hated Silhouettes

Here you are casting shadows on my walls.

I thought I’d lost you, my hated silhouette.

But, your presence still lingers in these haunted halls.

Will you ever leave me, my hated silhouette?

You’re outside my window just creeping.

Leave me be, my hated silhouette.

You’re stalking when I should be sleeping.

Run away, my hated silhouette.

Along all these walls shadows are cast.

Stop reminding me, my hated silhouette.

You make me relive my haunted past.

Goodbye, my hated silhouette.

Miss You

My wounds have not healed.

Nor will they ever.

Because, I just miss you.

And it shall stay that way till forever.

I see you in the trees.

The breeze reminds me of your hair.

I will never forget you.

Wherever you roam, I will be there.

The seasons seem dead without you.

And I have become bare from searching;

Because, I just miss you.

Forever, I will be, for you yearning.

Goodbye my dear one.

Take flight on tomorrow’s breeze.

But,  still I will miss you.

And I will keep you in the leaves.

Howling at the Moon

As I look out at the moon above,

I see her special kind of love.

Thinking as I stand in this forsaken lagoon.

Just howling at the moon.

I feel something of complacency.

Just a girl with a tendency;

To form conspiracy,

Just howling at the moon.

A pocket full of precious gems,

My life a pool of broken stems.

These things I hold in the palm of my hand,

Just howling at the moon.

And though my heart is full of broken dreams,

My heart stills screams,

For more but still I sit,

Just howling at the moon.

Paper Doves

Of all the hearts in the world,

Yours collided with mine.

Years ago we stood apart,

But soon our fates did intertwine.

And for centuries you stood here.

Where only the sickest of theory’s thrive.

To stand by me, in my time of need.

And from pain your pleasures you did derive.

How can I ever thank you?

To me you are so dear.

For always and forever,

I shall keep you near.

We are two souls alike;

Two peaks on the mountains above.

To limitless boundaries we soar.

Wingless paper doves.
